Short HorseSheets for 6-23: 4 tracks

Matt: This is a very, very short sheet. Here’s what to look for. First, horses that are at the top in all three of the last columns: BEST OVERALL, BEST LAST, and TOTALS. These horses win far more than their share of races, but they generally are overbet. Still, a winner is a winner.

If no horses fit that rule, look at the first two columns individually. BEST OVERALL is probably the best place to start. The top horses in this column win often, but again, are usually overbet. Which leaves two other alternatives.

The BEST LAST column doesn’t win quite as many races, but the top horses in here are often underbet, which can make them worth a small bet.

And lastly, as you might guess from the morning line odds, these horses are ranked by average speed over their last races on the form. So the list runs from fastest in the past down to slowest in the past. One of the top four horses in the list wins about 78% of the time but, again, are usually bet down beyond safety. However, sometimes the crowd misses a horse in this group, making it a good bet.

Other than that, this sheet does not take into consideration jockeys/trainers or pace. That’s what the long horsesheets are for, and I think you’d be better off using this short list and making judicious choices.

I’ll take a run at the long horsesheets and may come up with a possible or two.

Have fun. Bet wisely. Come home with more money than you had when you left.

Long and Short HorseSheets for June 20, 2020

First, the long HorseSheets, including Belmont, Gulfstream, and Santa Anita. Then the short HorseSheets for the same tracks. And speaking of Belmont, when I looked at The Belmont, I thought it looked like at least half the field is good enough to win. That said, I believe Tiz The Law is the best horse and most probable winner. However, looking at the pace, I can see Tap It To Win getting out in front and being very hard to catch. Yes, Jose might get the #6 out and try to go with #1, but I think Tap It To Win will survive that duel, if there is one. I believe there’s a good chance he may be caught, but I think his odds may justify a win bet, and perhaps an exacta with the #8. The only thing that troubles me about the #1 is his lack of recent works. Anyway, that’s my take on a Belmont longshot.

Short HorseSheets for 3-6 with a bonus

I’ve also added trainer angles, mostly for Larry, below the short sheets.

By the way, in the 6th race today (3-5) at Gulfstream, my two top AVG SPD horses came in. #5 was top of the column; #2 was second on the column. It came in 2/5.
Win=$59.80
$1 Exacta=$80.50
$1 Double=$98.10
$2 double in the 7th with #2 (the chalk) paid $114.

Gotta watch those fast horses.
